Our journey to find the ideal fishing lake has been a quest of dedication and discernment. After years of individual and joint exploration, Alan and I stumbled upon Quarry Lakes in the summer of 2023. From the moment we set foot on its shores, we knew we had found something special.

Nestled amidst rugged beauty, Quarry Lakes captivated us with its promise, particularly its substantial depth—a crucial factor in our search. As we explored its expanse in early October, our excitement only grew. Within a day, we were convinced that this was the place we had been searching for. After careful negotiation, our offer was accepted, paving the way for a future brimming with possibilities.

The history of Quarry Lakes adds to its allure. Originally dug in the 1970s for gravel and sand, these pits were later flooded in the early 1980s, creating the stunning landscape we see today. Our lake, the largest at approximately 6.2 acres, boasts mature tree-lined banks, depths reaching up to 22 feet, and intriguing features like marginal drop-offs and plateaus. Overhanging trees, some stretching 20 feet into the water, create secluded spots accessible only by boat.

While the original stock remains a mystery, reports of local anglers landing fish in the mid to upper 30-pound range hint at the potential lurking beneath the surface. During our own explorations, we’ve had the pleasure of encountering original fish up to the mid-20-pound mark, sparking our imagination about what other treasures lie in wait.
